Our inaugural event was a wonderful turn out… The Sangalo Football Festival, also known as “Sangalo Fest,” consists of a series of football tournaments played by participants from various demographics. The underlying goals of the football festival are to promote sport, increase participation in sports, facilitate organized and well-structured sporting events, and most importantly, to give back to the community through fundraising and community development initiatives.

This year at Sangalo Fest we hosted the Men’s Alumni Cup. This tournament consisted of alumni (former students) from secondary schools in Nigeria. Each team was required to have a minimum of 5 players that attended the school they were representing in order to be eligible. The remaining spots on the team roster could consist of free agents (players that didn’t attend the school). The ambience was simply amazing and the energy on the day was electric! despite the heavy rainfall. The football players were more passionate than ever and all the attendees were very pleased. Whitesands School emerged as Champions of the first-ever Sangalo Football Festival and they were stellar from start to finish! Top Scorer and MVP of the tournament, Jerry Marinho, was the superstar on the day! We look forward to making the next Sangalo Fest bigger and better.
Our guests and spectators enjoyed jammin’ to non-stop music from our DJ and the amazing gifts from our raffle show. Everyone had a great time filling their bellies with the delightful gourmet food from Gidi Gourmet and the most tantalizing shawarmas from Q-Bites. It was a great day for connecting with old friends and making new ones.
Lastly, we couldn’t have done it without the exceptional support from the British International School who allowed us host at their wonderful venue, our main sponsor, Bof Design Gallery, who can’t be thanked enough, and key sponsors of the event, including Sao Cafe, The CupCake Bakehouse, Paper & Strings, Makariah Scrubs, Fitness Central, Okunoren Twins, Rum n’ Passion, Oando PLC, and African Independent Television. To our wonderful team on the day and all those who helped us along the way and during the event, thank you.
